Ballintrae is a Federation-era residence commissioned by Major Arthur Haywood A'Beckett in 1898. Born into a wealthy English family, he served with the Antrim Artillery before settling in Australia, where he purchased 200 acres in 1895 - the land from which A'Beckett Road takes its name. Major A'Beckett went on to serve with the Australian Imperial Force at Gallipoli, returning home in 1919 with the rank of Major. His family carried a connection to one of Victoria's Chief Justices, and Ballintrae itself became known for its social life - garden parties, church fetes and gatherings that drew wealthy visitors out from Melbourne to the Bunyip countryside. More than a century on, Ballintrae still carries that history in its Baltic pine floors, high ornate ceilings and wide verandas - a house built for gathering then, and now.

ProLodge Ballintrae is booked as a single, private property - the whole house, gardens and grounds are yours for the length of your stay. The main house offers five bedrooms and four bathrooms (three of them ensuite), each with a queen bed, plus a sitting room and library. A separate unit adds two further bedrooms - one with a queen bed and ensuite, the other with bunks - and one bathroom. Across the whole property that is seven bedrooms, five bathrooms and six toilets in total, comfortably sleeping up to 15 guests.
